Sanjay and Charles Present the New Rikers Islanders Jersey!

Sanjay Kumar should be very familiar with the workings of a prison judging by the way Computer Associates (CA) runs its acquisitions and its company. During our ASK/INGRES acquisition, he challenged us to leave and lose our jobs if we didn't like CA. Many top developers stood up and walked out and had jobs the next day at competing RDBMS companies just a few miles away. Sanjay forgot that Silicon Valley was not like CA headquarters, Islandia, New York, where the nearest successful businesses at the time were a Hooters restaurant and a barbershop specializing in 80s-styled Long Island mullets.

I stayed on at Computer Associates and administered employee reviews whereby you were forbidden to write anything positive about employees. You could only verbally praise to avoid litigation. I stayed on and watched as employees were fired on the spot for nodding off at cult-like company meetings sometimes held offshore on cruise ships to avoid a break in the brainwashing.

Me, bitter? Nah!

In high school, during the Iran hostage crisis, Kumar wore a t-shirt that read "I am not Iranian". Maybe there's a market among South Asian IT workers for a shirt that says "I am not Sanjay Kumar".
