Driving down main street, my windshield wiper's broke, So I'm seeing pretty colors, yeah, this old place really looks alright; The traffic light that made me stop has turned itself to lovely drops. Dropping into this town, searching for some friends. We used to hang around here many years ago, But now they got a photomat right where our favorite place was at. CHORUS: Saturday night in the city and all my friends are gone, The streets don't have much pity and I'm feeling like a pawn, Moved off the board one more time for trying to make a connection. Wicked alma mater, she chased me right away, So I bought a car and drifted to some place where I could stay. I met a girl she could twist and shout, but now that girl has kicked me out. Out of my mind for ever comin' back To a place that can't contain me, like the dumpsters down on the street; The trash just seems to blow away 'til you find it back at your feet some day |
CHORUS Stories have been sadder; I know people got it worse, But don't tell me that kids are starving, when I'm so far away. When I'm back on my feet I'll send'em some food, Don't bother me now, 'cause I'm not in the mood. CHORUS
